Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MovieFinder. They comply with the Digital Services Act (DSA, EU 2022/2065), GDPR, the EU AI Act (EU 2024/1689), and applicable EU consumer law. By using the service, you accept these Terms.

1. Acceptance & Updates
- By using MovieFinder, you agree to these Terms in their current version.
- For material changes, we will notify you at least 14 days in advance via an on-site banner or email. Continued use after that period constitutes acceptance.
- If you disagree with changes, you may delete your account at any time.
2. Service Description
- MovieFinder is a discovery platform for movies and TV series information.
- We use the TMDB API (The Movie Database) for content metadata — MovieFinder does not hold copyright over that content.
- The service includes: content search and recommendations, chat, watchlists, and user profiles.
- The service is provided "as is" — we do not guarantee 100% availability or completeness.
3. Age Requirements
- You must be at least 16 years old to register. Users under 18 must have parental consent.
- We reserve the right to remove accounts we become aware belong to users under 16.
4. User Accounts
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity in your account.
- Report unauthorised access immediately to [email protected].
- We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms.
- Two-factor authentication is recommended for additional protection.
5. User-Generated Content (Chat Messages)
- You retain copyright in content you post. By posting, you grant MovieFinder a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and moderate it.
- Do not post content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights.
- The following are prohibited: illegal content, disinformation, malicious code, personal data of third parties.
- AI-generated content must be explicitly labelled as such (EU AI Act Art. 50).
6. Intellectual Property & Attribution
- Movie and TV data is provided by TMDB — attribution is required per their terms of use.
- The MovieFinder logo, design, and code are our intellectual property.
- Trailers are loaded from YouTube/official channels — we do not store or redistribute media content.
- Automated scraping of the site without explicit written permission is prohibited.
7. Streaming Availability & Partners
- MovieFinder may display links to streaming platforms (Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, etc.). These may be affiliate or advertising links — we are not responsible for the content of those platforms.
- Content availability by region depends on platform licensing agreements and may change.
8. Content Moderation Transparency (DSA Art. 14–17)
- MovieFinder applies content moderation rules in accordance with the DSA. Illegal content is removed upon credible notification.
- We have a reporting mechanism for illegal content: [email protected] (DSA Art. 14).
- When content is removed, the user is notified with an explanation. The decision may be appealed (see section 9).
- We are not liable for user-generated content provided we act promptly upon notification.
- Algorithmic moderation: where automated moderation tools are used, this is publicly disclosed in accordance with the EU AI Act.
9. Appeal Mechanism (DSA Art. 20)
- You have the right to appeal any decision restricting or removing your content.
- Submit an appeal to [email protected], specifying: the type of decision, the affected content, and your arguments.
- We will respond within 14 working days.
- If you are unsatisfied with the internal review, you may escalate to a DSA-certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or courts in your country.
10. Prohibited Activities
- Prohibited: attempting unauthorised access, DoS/DDoS attacks, distributing malicious code.
- Prohibited: posting spam, bulk messages, piracy links, IPTV streams.
- Prohibited: collecting personal data of other users (doxxing).
- Prohibited: impersonating another person or organisation.
- Violations may result in temporary or permanent account suspension without notice in serious cases.
11. Consumer Rights & Liability (EU Directive 2019/770)
- The service is free of charge. We do not exclude, limit, or modify statutory consumer rights under Directive 2019/770 on digital content.
- Our liability for unintentional harm is limited to the maximum permitted by applicable law — but does not exclude consumer rights under mandatory EU legislation.
- If you are in the EU/EEA, your local consumer law applies in full regardless of these Terms.
12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
- These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Bulgaria and applicable EU law.
- For out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes, you may use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr
- Competent court: for EU consumers — the courts in your country of residence.
13. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms. For material changes we will provide at least 14 days' notice.
